As my nom de plume indicates I am a country boy living in a quiet 30 acre wooded property in SW Ontario, widowed 3 years ago now I am just seeking to fill the long hours of each day with a little conversation here. I am pleased to see the heading which says no political discussions which is one of the reasons I chose to join this forum.

Good to see your arrival. This is a pretty nice place, and while nominally there are no political discussions there are threads here that make me cringe. For the most part they are few though and seldom very heated. And I've been known to spout on topics here and there myself so I can't throw stones.

.......and 'dolly' I spent my youth in England but left for Canada in 69 and it took me 30 years to get to hide in these woods and I am NOT leaving...!

Thats a good question as it totals 6 or 8 places in 25 years but includes Sale near Manchester, Alverstoke near Gosport, and several villages in Hertfordshire and Essex, last place before leaving for Canada was Langley Lower Green in Essex......

I used to live in Gosport in the 70's in Naval Married Quarters... and now I live in Hertfordshire...:D(y)
 
Its a small world dolly, I can see some interesting chats in the future given that my grandfather was a Dockyard policeman in the Portsmouth dockyard and my mother delivered mail into the secure area when the 'Mulberry Harbour' was built ..... both before our time but fond memories of that area.
Where in Hertfordshire?

My ex husband was a Petty Officer in the RN... which is why we lived in Gosport for a while, then Plymouth.. etc...

I'm not going to say on a Forum exactly where I live but I live in East Herts.... :)
