A time and a place....

I’ve just returned from our Local Library, there’s a family area with table, chairs and a drinks machine where I met a young male friend for a chat over coffee, after a while this young woman came in with a baby, headed for a seat right opposite us, sat down, hitched up her jumper and proceeded to try and breast feed the baby, who wasn’t the slightest bit interested and wriggled until it’s mother gave up, pulled her jumper down and left,

I can imagine that kid was thinking ‘For heavens sake mum, put it away, there’s a time and a place, and a public Library ain’t it’.....

Talking about breastfeeding wren
there was a programme on last week, called “ Men that Breastfeed”………
I thought it was a comedy or Misspelt…….but no…..It’s a favourite with Men now !!
😬😵‍💫😵‍💫🤢

Eventually a woman's breast will no longer be thought about as seeing a woman's bare ankle was.

When a bare female ankle was able to spark a scandal

In olden days a glimpse of stocking, was looked upon as something shocking. - ‘Anything Goes’

People during the Victorian era were known to be prudish, hypocritical, stuffy and narrow-minded. This was also the time of Freudian psychology with all that suppression leading to sexualizing of everything.

This reminds me of a joke Frankie Howard told, about a gathering of mothers where they were all breast feeding their babies and telling funny stories....... "There was a lot of 'tittering' going on there, I can tell you," said Frankie. 😊

While breast feeding a baby is a normal activity, it is a rather personal one. If there were other seats available than sitting directly opposite you at the same table, she should have used those seats. Otherwise, the kid's gotta eat.

But it so obviously didn’t want to ! It wasn’t crying and struggled to get away when she was shoving her boob into its mouth

I don't believe breast feeding is any longer seen as "shocking". Most women can do it without undo fuss.
I don’t think it’s shocking, surely nobody these days is shocked by the sight of a women’s naked breasts, they’re virtually everywhere you look (even mine on the beach sometimes) ;) it would just be nice had the mother been a bit more discreet, for her own privacy if nothing else

Maybe she was going to spend the next hour doing something (e.g., driving), and would be unable to nurse him. So she was making sure he wasn't going to be hungry (screaming, crying, etc.) while she was doing it.

That's the word I was looking for - she should have been more discreet.
