A Tip For Denture Wearers

LEAVE YOUR DENTURES IN WHEN YOU GO TO BED. I've been wearing uppers and lowers since age 22.That's 61 years and makes me knowledgeable on the subject. I am only on my second set, which dentist friends find remarkable. They look good, don't slip and I can eat anything except caramels. If you take your dentures out at night your gums will continue to shrink as you get older and thus require new dentures or re-lineing. Keeping them in at night will help keep your gums from shrinking too fast. I clean and wash my dentures after most meals and before going to bed. A Dentist would never give you this tip.
CAN YOU GUESS WHY??

Good to know! I still have most of my own teeth, but as I age they are getting weaker (apparently) and crack easily. I imagine I will be needing dentures within 10 years or so....or at least partials.

This is good to know. I have been told to never wear my dentures at night as it will not allow my gums to breath.. but if that's now true, I would rather wear them. I believe they give support to my face muscles which ache without them in.
