A Toast for Life - a music poem I made into a video

I haven't written in here for awhile. It's not that I haven't anything to write, but I've been very busy with teaching classes and attending activities. It's easier to breeze in, read, and hit the "like" buttons. I just wanted to stop by and say "hello" and that I am well. How are you doing?

Having joined the senior center these past few months has been the best thing for me in a long time. I am learning how to play the guitar, and am doing watercolor painting. I joined the local art association also.

I now have added a third activity to my life, and that is card making. I have been slowly buying what I need to make my cards. It really is artistic and fascinating to see the card coming together. I already made a card and sent it to a relative who lost her husband.

Today, at the center, they had a food truck and an outdoor concert. So I attended the event. I bought a BBQ brisket and some coleslaw and sat with my new-found friends. The brisket had a lot of fat, so I only ate some of it. I couldn't finish the coleslaw either. It felt too sweet. The center also had a fire going and the ladies there were making Smores (Marshmallows and graham crackers) and passing them around. I didn't take one.

I chatted amicably with my friends under the nice autumn sun. The gentle breeze was soothing. The guitarist played nice oldies in the background. It was such a lovely and pleasant afternoon. I rolled up my sleeves to get more sun on my arms. They were so white! Some of the ladies moved to the shade because of the sun's rays, but my friend and I stayed in the sun, chatting. She had a chance to read one of my books and she was enthused about it. She said she wanted to learn to write.

When she learned my background (and that I teach English), she said I should volunteer at the center to teach writing. So we'll see if I can fit that into my busy schedule! I will have to fill out a volunteer form. I heard it takes about a month to get vetted. I'm ok with that.

Hi, Patty. 🙂

Wow, you've been a busy bee! It's always nice to see you, and I miss you when you're not around, but I'm so glad you're having fun and making friends at the senior center. You're musically talented, so learning to play the guitar should come easily to you, and teaching writing sounds like it would be right up your alley; maybe you can squeeze it in. Don't forget to come up for air once in a while! 😁

Now I want to see more of your beautiful artwork and get a peek at the cards you're making. Please share!

Thanks, @Bella for the encouragement! Hope all is well with you!
