This is not a plug for this website just a constructive way to pass the time. You may or may not have heard of this website / https://www.zooniverse.org/projects /. I have been going there for years. When I have time to burn on my hands I figure why not help some researchers do some research. Zooniverse has all kinds of projects one can get involved with. Many only require you to look at images and document what you see with the click of your mouse. I like to help with research on space, wildlife and vegetation.
To name one I participated in a project where they requested that I look at images of the surface of Mars to find and document certain anomalies in the terrain. The project had thousand of images to look through and by looking through the images for certain characteristic I was saving the scientists/researchers time and effort that they could be using for calculation and more critical parts of the project.
The one I am doing now is called the Neighbors to Nature project that helps researchers identify wildlife near trails in Jackson, Wyoming, so they can improve the area for both wildlife and people. If you have time on your hands and would like a constructive and interesting way to spend it check out the website. It has a simple and easy interface and is not intrusive at all. I am a member but I do not think you have to join to participate. Enjoy, I do.
