Yesterday afternoon,my 'movie buddy',Alexei and I saw'A Wrinkle in Time" a sci-fi fantasy movie based on the book by Madeline L'Engle.which I had never read.
The story is about Meg Murray, a middle school girl trying desperately to fit in while dealing with self worth issues. She and her younger brother,Charles Wallace,a smart little boy have been without their scientist father,Alex for 5 yrs. He discovered a new planet and used a idea'tesseract' to travel there,been stuck ever since thanks to evil forces. Three mystery travelers,Mrs Who,Mrs. Whatsit,Mrs Which,help Meg,Charles Wallace and Meg's classmate,Calvin go and bring her dad home.
This movie was confusing at times to follow.The young cast members were good,Storm Reid"Meg',Deric McCabe'Charles Wallace',Levi Miller'Calvin'. I'm not a fan of Reese Witherspoon"Mrs Whatsit' or Oprah Winfrey"Mrs.Which',Mindy Kaling"Mrs. Who' was good..The movie was filmed partly in New Zealand,lovely to look at
Alexei is in his late 20's,younger son of my close friends,Marcia&Dave.We started going to the movies together in 2014 .Some of the books he had read when he was younger, have been made into movies. Two in particular I had never heard of before but really enjoyed,'The Giver","The Maze Runner"{we saw all 3}. The only reason I went was because Alexei wanted to see it.He told me the book was better Sue
