So I got a message from my health care provider that it's time to make an appointment for a follow-up to my cataract surgery about a year ago. I made an appointment. Dave has to drive me because I am told they will be dilating my eyes. Okey doke. So we showed up this morning, only to be told that my insurance (Medicare and a supplemental) will not cover my visit because my last follow up visit was on Feb. 19, and it has to be a year and a day. Sigh. So I went home unexamined, and with a new appointment set on Feb. 20. Normally, I was told, the staff catches this sort of thing, but they missed this one. Well, OK, stuff happens. But seriously, this could be avoided. The same computer program that sends me the message that it's time to make an appointment, can also tell me when the magic date is! Ditto for my well visit and my mammogram. So I emailed my provider and politely made this suggestion. You never know. They might even listen.
