Hanging Baskets are an easy way to add instant color
to any deck, patio or porch.

One "old standby" that always looks great and is pretty easy to care for
Is the geranium (Pelargonium).
Other plants that make great hanging baskets include Calibrachoa, Verbana and Petunia.

Proven Winner's "Supers" have been bred to look good all Summer in a hanging basket
with a minimum of maintenance are: Superbells (Calibrachoa), Superbena (Verbana),
Superfine Petunias.

The nice thing is you can either purchase ready-made hanging baskets or make your own.
And, with the right selection and care you can keep them looking good all Summer long.

What's in your hanging basket(s)?

I have a couple of hanging baskets. One is an old one made from little shells that I bought in Morro Bay years ago. My niece fashioned the hanging part w/fishing wire so I could hang it once again. It's hanging on a broken limb on one of my backyard trees. It's the right height for me to reach for watering. Don't know the name of the plant in it. But, it's pretty.

The other one is old and empty. It's grown in to the limb it's hanging on! It's up high, and I'm short, so I would always forget to water it.

You know how some people rescue cats...or dogs
Well, I "rescue" plants..
Lowe's..(a hardware)..has a garden center.
They have racks of reduced plants..as they are dis-stressed...o.k. almost dying.
So, home they come...for the hanging baskets...good watering..
And...wah-la...am quite pleased! 👍

Impatiens don’t require much care.

Boston ferns give a nice cool look to a shady porch.

Martha had her time and glory. Her coming out and Playboy shots - I can hang a fern with out her.

I don't have any of her books but I have two by Margaret Roach. Margaret was editorial editor of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a New York Times editor and a gardening book author. If you like gardening I am sure you would love them. They are "and I shall have some peace there" and "the backyard parables". She is one of the deciding factors in my leaving the Dallas area and moving to rural Oklahoma.

Adding "A Way to Garden" which I forgot.

Yes it's called the Gardenia Jasmanoid here... it's such a glorious plant the perfume is my absolute favourite in a flower...

Great pictures. I had a row of what we called creeping gardenia. They look similar. A few years ago we had an unusually deep cold spell and it took its toll.
