Acid Reflux - Regular and Natural Treatments...

Something a doctor warned me about a few years back after some diagnostics. Key for this person is not eating within 2 or 3 hours of nightly sleep. Also helps if when it might be an issue to sleep in more a sitting up position to more easily allow gravity to move food down one's intestinal track. Additionally have a plastic bottle with water at bedside that when waking during the night, if I notice my stomach is still a bit acidic, drinking some tends to move it down. Note I never take medicines or anti-acids like Tums.

8 years ago I had gotten a hiatal hernia(had torn the hiatus opening in the diaphragm), had horrible acid reflux. Took about 6-8 months to heal, was put on a Proton-pump inhibitor and took antacids as needed.

One thing that helps me is to peel an apple and eat some of the skin. I saw that on the internet and tried it and it does work. Green apples are supposed to be the best but it works with all kinds. I keep a couple of apples in the fridge in a zip lock for that purpose.
