Activities for Seniors

I am new to chat rooms. I am 70. My activities are: jigsaw puzzles, and reading biographies. My children live a ways away, are very busy with their lives and I would like to have some online friends if possible. Maybe there are some suggestions for activities for 70 year olds living in USA. May you have a refreshing day.

If you enjoy exercise and live in the United States and have Medicare, you might qualify for a Silver Sneakers or Silver and Fit free membership. We have one, and go to the fitness center almost every day when we can, and at least several times a week. The Wellness Center here is affiliated with our hospital, and most of the people that we see there are seniors just like us. Both my husband and myself have made casual friends with some of the other people that we usually see when we are there.

I enjoy swimming, and it is easy for me to do, so I swim for an hour and my husband works out and lifts weights; but they have all kinds of exercise equipment at the center.
It is a great way to meet people and help improve your health all at the same time.

I enjoy reading, and have a Kindle Unlimited membership, so there are thousands of free Kindle books that are available with that program.
I also belong to a bunch of Facebook Groups for things that I am interested in (health, ancient history, political, and archeology, etc.), and I enjoy checking those out every day.

I don’t go, but we have a Senior Center here, and they have a lot of activities for seniors, and you might have something like that where you live, too. Without knowing more about where you live, it is kind of hard to have more suggestions for you.

welcome aboard, Joanna, I'm a brand new member, too. HappyFlowerLady offered up some great suggestions.

I'm betting one can find forums / chatrooms for what ever one's interests where one can share and find threads of commonality.

ps - I enjoy reading and jigsaw puzzles, too...
