Actor William Shatner is 94 today.

"William Shatner's emotional admission after fearing he 'doesn't have long left'. Star Trek legend William Shatner sombrely revealed that he "doesn't have long left to live" and made arrangements to “reach out to his grandchildren” after his death. The actor, who turns 94 today (March 22), made the confession ahead of the release of his 2023 documentary, You Can Call Me Bill."

I've been watching William Shatner all of my life. He always seemed to turn up the shows that I watched when I was younger. 78 episodes of Star Trek. Two episodes of The Twilight Zone (Nick of Time, Nightmare at 20,000 Feet). Two episodes of Thriller, hosted by Boris Karloff, The Hungry Glass, The Grim Reaper), and one episode of The Outer Limits , Cold Hands, Warm Heart).

On Shatner’s birthday, Elon Musk invited him to come along when they take the starship to colonize Mars. At first, Shatner declined, but now “Captain Kirk” has accepted Elon Musk’s invitation for the trip, and even talks about “Shatner City” on Mars.

Many people don’t realize what an accomplished equestrian William Shatner has ALWAYS been. He showed Saddlebreds for years.

In his eighty’s, he became interested in reining so got into that. It takes a LOT of core strength to sit a Reiner and give that horse direction.

I love him on the History Channel series “The Unexplained”. He always garners my full attention because his facial expressions often tell much of what he’s thinking/conveying.

I'm not much of a rider, but I've ridden several horses while I lived in Montana. All of them responded to the neck rein. I've always wondered how you teach that to a horse? It always seemed like turning a car's steering wheel to the right, and having the car turn to the left. Maybe the horse just knows what you want?

The one thing that irked this female about Captain Kirk was his (To babes, who are usually quite skinny, he acts like he's unresistingly alluring." lol

Did you push cattle on a ranch in Montana? That‘s a freezing tough job during the winter months.

Horses have to be taught to neck rein. It’s not hard to teach but some horses do pick up on it faster than others.

I don’t know how the professional trainers teach a horse, but I would lay one rein against the horse’s neck while gently tugging on the other rein until they get the gist of what is wanted, with a lot of reward - pats and verbal praise, NO treats. Horses aren’t like dogs when it comes to treats, they get nippy & pushy.

No I was in the western mountains, where horses and mules were pack animals that were used in the wilderness areas, although I hiked in carrying my own stuff. There were no large ranches where I lived. I was not a cowboy. I lived among the hard hats and loggers.
