Adoption day, and a complete family again!

Sadly I have lost two senior cats in the past six months, one from kidney failure and the other from cancer. I replaced the first one in October from an animal shelter, but unfortunately an inoperable tumor claimed the second one this January. I’m going to the animal shelter today to adopt another one, like his new companion not a kitten but a two-year-old cat.

Because everyone loves kittens, my shelter charges $75 for their adoption, but adult cats are available for whatever you want to donate as they are harder to place even though there are fewer kitten problem behaviors like climbing the curtains!

So this is a happy day for me, and I encourage everyone seeking an animal adoption to visit your local animal shelter, and consider one of the many adult dogs and cats there needing a home! 🐈

I'm sorry for the loss of your senior cats. I know it's a hard thing to go through-grieving them. You are courageous to get more cats. I will not get any more pets after my two pass--that is if I outlive them. Congratulations on your adoption!

Thank you all! With snow flying, I went to the animal shelter yesterday and brought home “Reddy,” who is orangish in color, fairly large, and very affectionate. I think that he will be a good addition once the “existing cat in residence” gets over some territorial and jealousy issues. My new cat did by his choice spend some time in my lap the first day, a good sign…

Congratulations on your new pet. I don't know if I'd have the heart to adopt one so soon after losing one (or two, like you). It's been more than 25 years since we had to have our Audra "put to sleep". I wasn't looking to get another pet until at least a few years from now. But our little mischievous kitten adopted me! We've had her since Labor Day after she spent two days and nights on our patio (one of 24 here in the complex). I wouldn't trade her for the world now.

I'd love to see pictures of the new addition to your family. :)😸

Fyrefox, congrats on adopting a new member of your family. I highly recommend a product called Feliway for the territorial issues. Works like a charm. Available on Amazon or some pet supply stores carry it.
