Advice buying a vacuum cleaner

I am replacing my Hoover with another upright inexpensive cleaner, such as Eureka.
Don't need attachments. Basic model. Useful for pet hair on carpet, Not too tall or large.
Not Shark. I read reviews but not sure I trust them.

We had a big Dyson "Animal" vacuum that lasted about 20 years before it began to have troubles. We replaced it with a Bissel from Walmart. The Bissel weighs about half what the Dyson did, and performs just as well, plus it has a swivel brush head, which is a nice feature. Walmart has several Bissel models...some starting out for as little as $100. This is what we bought.

I don't know what you mean by not trusting Shark, but I wouldn't buy any other brand.
I have 3 Sharks & also their cordless hand vac. All are great & reasonably priced. And their customer service is second to none. They replaced one vacuum free of charge for me. I just told them I didn't really like it.

I have a Eureka The Boss vacuum. It works good, but they're a bit pricy if they even make them any more.

I love my shark. Two dogs and its great on hair. Lots of power and no clogging. I bought mine at Wal-Mart so I could easily return it if it was not good. That was 5 years ago.

I have a Dyson which I have had a couple of years now and it's fine but, even though it is one of the lighter models, I still think it is heavy. I know several people who have the Henry hoovers and love them.

I would go by these reviews over Amazon's. They'll always have some bad reviews.
I haven't bought a vacuum in years, but I worked at Sears and always bought Kenmore. I have a Kenmore cannister and a Kenmore upright made by Miele. I also have an electric Eureka mini vac that is great for in between. They're old pretty old.
I don't have pets so I'd take reviews from pet owners.

I inherited my mother's electrolux (50+ year old?) - a trouble free workhorse for the main floor (kitchen, living/dining room, den). More powerful than the new Hoover that is upstairs (for the bedrooms).

I hate Henry's... my daughter loves them. We used to have a Henry at work, and it was just rubbish at picking things up...

I have a Miele, Cat and Dog, so altho' I have no pets of my own, and therefore no pet hair, I do have very long hair myself, and the Miele Cat & Dog.. is brilliant at hoovering up hair
