After the storm will there be a medical personnel shortage?

I was talking to my son, whose an RN nurse that works at a couple different hospitals (ICU, ER, and Psych).

Before COVID-19, there was a shortage of medical staff. My son's concern is that it will be worse once this storm passes as people may decide not to go into the medical field.

I'm hoping the telemed, telehealth, telecare programs will get stronger. Not only will that give doctors and nurses more time to handle the more critical sicknesses but it would make it so much easier for the elderly and young families with children. I needed to have one of my medications refilled but it slipped up on me and I didn't realize it until I only had 4 doses left. Called my neurologist and the PA said he had to see me before he could refill it and it could be handled via one of these 'Skype' type programs. I needed a camera for my computer and had to order that so it won't be in for 2 more weeks. Doctor's office called me in a one month prescription and I call them when I get my camera set up.

I would hope that this pandemic will actually encourage more interest in the medical field. More who actually care about people and want to help them. Forget the sports figures and celebrities who are considered idols for the young people (children and adults). They need to be aware that all those in the medical profession and all the first responders are more than idols...they are real life heroes.

Ad that to Law Enforcement...

Many of the emergency services are going to see an increasing lack of staff... Paid and volunteer. Overworked, Underpaid, under appreciated,
