I don't know of any ocean coast where whales didn't beach themselves at some time. Whales continue to beach themselves. Why?? Somehow an instinct to beach would have petered out, because those that had it, died.

Is the navy doing drills in the area? Naval sonar can mess up whales navigation and can some other underwater sensor activity. Or be a painful or disturbing noise to them

So sad that 31 of them died. I wonder why they did that too @Paladin1950. New Jersey has had its share of beached whales. I could have sworn I saw at least one this year but an article said it was actually a dolphin on the Atlantic City beach. Here's a list of beached whales in N.J. in 2023.

I'm just guessing but either its danger from predators (Orcas)-(sharks) or they have bad colds.
