Age and clothing fashion

Why is it young people can get away with wearing certain fads in clothing that would seem silly on seniors? For instance I see a great deal of teens and 20-somethings wearing torn, ripped blue jeans. If my jeans were in that condition, I'd toss them, but that is considered "in" these days, at least for young people.

Deb, I wouldn't wear those even if I was 20. They're in really poor taste, but when fashionistas say some awful design of theirs is HOT, then young women have to wear it to be in like their friends. They usually change when they become older and more confident of their own fashion sense.

I didn't like them in the eighties when they were first fashionable and certainly wouldn't wear them now !

Agree chic. I know my "grands" have become more conservative in their dress as they have matured.

I've gotten used to them on the kids, but it's not just the teens wearing them. I see middle aged (and then some) ladies and gents wearing them, and to nice events. JMO, but it doesn't matter if you have on an expensive top & nice jewelry if you have holes in your jeans.

The diff, though, is these days I've seen them advertised for more than $400!!!

Really ? I guess some people have more money than sense, a pair of scissors would give the same effect for a free ...

Imagine if you had a blind date and he turned up wearing a pair of those !!!
