Ahhhh the sunny southwest

Although it probably feels the same as the temps in Thailand as it's not dry heat there. Humid but with nice sea breezes. We'll be expecting it to be 86-88 every day.

I said looking OUT at the patio, it is 78 in here.

Ah right. That's okay then. Nice and cool and sipping one of my fave drinks. :)

Looked at the extended forecast for where I'll be in Michigan a week from Monday. In the 80's which sounds nice to me.

Well Jim, you've beat me by about 14* today. I don't care for G&T but I am having a Budlight Lime-A-Rita on ice and looking out the window at the sunny dry front yard. It's almost nap time here.

Thanks, but no thanks Jim....waaay to hot for me! It's hot by me today, 92 on my outside thermometer (and it's in the shade), and 82 in my house. Will be cooling off with a Miller High Life (freezer chilled) when I eat dinner, oven grilled wild Rockfish and organic wild rice medley.

Damn girl that supper sounds GREAT!! Enjoy your High life (my favorite brew).

While the sweat is dripping off you?

Actually, unless you have experienced it, the desert heat is rather surprising. When Relative Humidity is very low (not the case in August in AZ, however), the "Heat Index" published works in reverse: note that while the temperature was 116`F, it "felt like" less, 113`.

Other than in the comparatively humid summertime here, it is common for the "Feels Like" temperature to be 10% less than actual here.

Instead of the sweat "dripping off of us", it evaporates as quickly as it is produced. Still stinks-up clothing, though! imp

Not me Imp. My sweat don't stink!! *wry smile*

I've never been in a desert except for a short visit to Dubai. But I lived on the equator and due to the high elevation the temps never got above mid 80's. It also had low humidity, so unless you were standing in direct sun, the temps were very pleasant.

I'm going to be in Sedona/Flagstaff area late September. Looking at the long range forecast, temps suppose to be around 80 for the high and low 50's at night. I can deal with that. Stopping off for a couple of days on my way to Las Vegas to visit my last living aunt. Going to stop by the Grand Canyon. Never seen it........I've lived a sheltered life. ;) And going to visit southern Utah on the way back. I've been to Moab, but haven't seen Zion and Bryce parks. Looking forward to the trip.

I have a son who lives in Flagstaff. He and his wife got married in Sedona ten years ago, and chose late September because the weather is usually perfect. You've timed your trip well!

I remember life in the Arizona desert. (6 years of it) .. If it didn't get up to 118 in August (Phoenix) it would have seemed strange... life went on as usual. No big deal, especially with a cool swimming pool.:)

Trips over to Death Valley (Ca) in the summer had temperature ranges of 120 and up.

Flagstaff, in Sept., is usually pretty nice weather. The higher elevation there makes for a much milder Summer/Early Fall environment than the areas around Phoenix/Tuscon. You may even want to carry a light jacket if you are out at night in that area in late Sept.

Yes, I plan to. I remember being in Vail several years ago during July and threw a long sleeve shirt in the bag just in case. Came in handy at night.

If you can swing it, or fit it in, in my estimation, the most beautiful and inspiring of Utah's parks is Capitol Reef. A quick search might show some of the incredible scenery there. The Fremont River runs smack through the park. Sheer, red sandstone cliffs, cut through by running water, the crevasses lined with red sand, one can walk through them in wonder. imp
