Alternative "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here"

Old codger
I was just wondering what might happen should someone commission a programme called "Alternative I'm a celebrity, get me out of here"?

However, the people chosen to be out in the Australian jungle would be survival experts like Bear Grylls, Ray Mears and Ben Fogle (with Dominic Allen if he's recovered enough from a recent ordeal).

There would be no lack of volunteers to go on the "Bush tucker trial", as all three would see it as merely a chance for a quick meal, whatever was put in front of them, and making fire or shelters would be a doddle to these guys of course.

I can foresee one difficulty and that is I doubt they would stay where they were supposed to for the two or three weeks its supposed to last, and they'd break out no doubt. Another thought is they might try to find a way of making the presenters, "Ant and Dec", nice guys though they are, eat the same bugs, snakes or whatever they're being fed, and see how they like it :D.

I suspect there may be a few on the forum who have no idea who Ray Mears is, let alone the other survival experts mentioned in the OP, so here is some info to give you an idea:

"There is a magic in America. They have a generosity of spirit and in many ways are a very beautiful people. People outside don’t always get to see that."

Just in case you're still not sure what this thread is about here are some names I've been given for the US equivalent to Ray Mears:

"Involved in the primitive/wilderness skills community there are lots of instructors and schools in the US. Here is a short list of names of the most prominent in no particular order:

Tom Brown Jr.
Ron Hood
Thomas J. Elpel
Larry Olsen"

This may help generate some interest, a photo of the "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" tv show "Ant and Dec" (mates of Simon Cowell), and if that doesn't work I'll be back with some Benny Hill references and pictures to generate interest in the US perhaps  (?)

Wow, that jungle photo reminds me of a movie I was watching lastnight;) Journey to the Center of the Earth, lol!! Those show must be picked up in the US?? I don't have cable, but I have Roku with channels like BBC etc. I'll have to take a look Graham. A couple friends of ole Simon hey;) He is quite a character for sure;)

PS I do love the guy sittin on his Ass;) I have one like that of my X husband:playful:

I found tons of videos on Ant and Dec, and they are so cute, but I can only understand half of what they say darn it. I wish there were captions. I hear that the Whelsh dialect would be hard for me too, but would love to hear it.

Graham, I'd like to respond to your thread, but I've never watched a celebrity show or even a reality show, at least not all the way through to the end.

This is all I can say, and I don't even understand it. :playful:

Could the joke be that all those reality shows amount to is "Recycled" tv?

Good on you for not watching any of them, or a show all the way through.

I admit I did watch a few shows involving celebrities including Germaine Greer, the outspoken feminist and intellectual. I admit too I enjoyed watching her getting criticised by a notorious horse racing pundit called John McCririck, but most of all I had to admire her force of personality, much to my surprise.

Thanks for the contribution to the thread.
