If one goes into it expecting something back, it will only hurt. The real medicine is not expecting anything back. If one wants something back one has to be sure that the other person is capable of that kind of love or any kind of love at all. One has to risk getting hurt to reap the rewards sometimes. Just my opinion. Maybe it doesn't work for everyone.
We obvious celebrate long term relationships/marriages, but maybe not enough, because they are likely to become more of an rarity in future aren't they!
Well, chemistry is nice and in most cases essential even for the love bug.Its possible too that they actually believe it when they say you didn't love them, (because you didn't love yourself, or some such guff!).

It is possible to read something into a photograph isn't it, (though of course the camera lies to an extent, and you've not got the "real picture" have you, as you would when meeting someone in person).

Generally when I am communicating one on one with someone regularly, there is a sort of Symbiotic Existential Consciousness that appears to develop.
