Amazon

I have both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk accounts. I get my kindle books on my US account and things to be shipped to me on my UK one. I order a huge variety of items from Amazon which have nothing to do with books.

We just recently joined Amazon Prime. Mostly for their books. The wife and I both read a lot and I think we have already saved money by joining. Have also watched a couple of movies too, although we prefer Netflix.

I tried to get Amazon Prime a few months ago so I could watch Outlander (the only way to watch in the UK). But I can't have a kindle account on .com and a prime account on UK. So we resolved that by husband getting prime in the UK. So I get him to order things for the free shipping now.

Good move. Amerscot. There usually ways to get around the small print if one tries hard enough. :sentimental:

It was a major headache. I had to phone them up and the CR was very unclear about his explanations. So someone else phoned me back after I left a negative review of the CR. It was really simple but made complicated! Our kindle account is through my US account (hubby gets his kindle books and newspaper through me). Therefore I couldn't get another media account in the UK. I had no idea they were linked! I did get Prime but when I tried Outlander it came up on the US system which means I'd have to pay for each episode! Grrr. So they very nicely let me cancel my prime UK and switch it to husband. Solved. :)

From selling books out of a Seattle garage and eventually, it morphed into the global e-commerce powerhouse it is today with $89 billion in annual revenue.

I published my dads poems through Amazons self publishing software for Kindle and print as a Fathers Day gift. It was his dream to be published and it only cost me time. He cried... then he turned into a diva making plans for his next book.

I had the blog I did while we lived in Uganda turned into a book. Can't remember the company but several of the pages had the photos and text screwed up. At least I have my blog saved forever.

I remember when it started, or maybe when it came to the UK,
they had a big warehouse in Bedfordshire, (I think), there were
pictures of staff sitting around with nothing to do, just waiting
for orders to come in and they could pack and post them.

The press said that it would never last!

Do reporters ever tell the truth, I wonder.

Mike.

I love what my Amazon (AMZN) stock has returned to me.

I just thought that it is amazing to go from selling books online from your garage to $89 billion in annual revenue. !!!!

Amazon Prime :

Michael Pachter, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, estimates there are 35 million to 40 million members.

Thats $99 a year per Member, You do the math for that yearly income alone!!

I love Amazon and agree that it is a great company. I order a lot from them each month and have debated on getting Prime, but since I have limited data with my satellite service and can not stream movies, I just can notjustify the extra expense.

We save a fortune in shipping fees with Prime. Not all items are free to ship though - it needs to say Prime next to the item.

I wanted to order a roll on insect repellent a couple of weeks ago and the price was ÂŁ4. The shipping was ÂŁ6. So ordered it on hubby's prime and shipping was free.

I never need anything in a hurry so I always do the cheapest or free shipping. But the main reason we got it is because it is the only way I can watch the Outllander series in the UK. It was shown in 70 other countries before we got it and it was filmed here!

Jackie22, you sound like me. My kids keep telling me I need to get Prime but it wouldn't pay me to do it. I'm not a movie watcher and I counted up my shipping costs for the past several years and I would be paying more for the Prime each year than I have for shipping. When it's available, I use the Free Shipping choice. Yes, it takes longer but I look at it like this, "If I've waited this long, I can wait a few more days".

I've been a Prime customer for many years. I hate shopping in stores, dealing with the crowds, screaming kids, parking, etc. The few times that I've had a defective product or any kind of problem, Amazon really bends over backwards to make things right.
