AMC Plans to Reopen With 15-Cent Tickets

Chain aims to reopen 100 cinemas next week

In 1920, with America recovering from a pandemic, the Dubinsky Brothers opened a cinema in Kansas City, Mo., and charged 15 cents a ticket. AMC Theaters, the chain their cinema spawned, plans to charge the same price when it reopens theaters next week. The company says it will reopen around 100 locations Aug. 20 in cities including Atlanta, Dallas, and Miami, with 15-cent tickets on opening day for legacy titles including Black Panther, Ghostbusters, and The Empire Strikes Back, Variety reports. AMC says that under its phased reopening plan, it aims to have two-thirds of its 600 or so locations nationwide open in time for the Sept. 3 release of Christopher Nolan's Tenet.

So here we are in the midst of a pandemic...and right when it's supposed to start into its next peak they're ENCOURAGING people to go out & GO TO A MOVIE & CATCH THEIR DEATH while they're at it? No thanks. I don't care if the movies are free. I find this to be very irresponsible behavior on the part of AMC.

I can understand that it's real easy to tell a cinema owner to let his family loose all that he has, even down starving his kids, when we aren't affected. It's out of desperation that theaters are trying to re-open. But there is nothing that says we have to attend them. I just can't think of amore porbable way of transmitting the virus than sitting for hours in a crowded theater. And in the dark, some jackass won't wear a mask, because it violates his right to infect us.
