Amelia Earhart on History

It sounds like they are trying to shed some new light on the old theory that she died in Japanese custody.

If that is true it would be nice if the Japanese government would confirm it once and for all.

Some say that she never took that flight. Landed at some small obscure airport and went home to NY and lived with hubby George Putnam.

George set up the whole plot to increase interest in his publications.

Now they call it "Fake News".

I started watching the show last night, but the combination of my relaxing recliner, and the droning voices of the commentators put me to sleep after about 30 minutes. I guess I'll have to watch it on the History Channel web site.

When I read a book on her life and flight (cannot recall the exact title) I read slowly......knowing that as long as I read, she was alive.

New Evidence
"Among thousands of documents he uncovered was a photograph stamped with official Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) markings reading “Marshall Islands, Jaluit Atoll, Jaluit Island, Jaluit Harbor.” In the photo, a ship can be seen towing a barge with an airplane on the back; on a nearby dock are several people"
.

"Amelia Earhart is believed to be the woman in the photo with short dark hair, wearing a white shirt, sitting on the dock with her head turned to the right".

An enigma that may never be solved. Many theories, however.

Many theories indeed. Here are some.

My guess is that Earhart's flight included some spying for the US. She either got caught, shot down or survived living a double or new life after.

Here's the DailyMail piece from last week.

I saw some of the documentary. I want to see the whole thing in context but I did see the search for her old grave and prison she was reportedly held in. What could be found at an old grave especially if she was buried in a coffin or wrapped up in someway?

I watched this documentary, this afternoon, on the computer. It convinced me...Amelia and Noonan Did Not crash land and die in the middle of the Pacific. Very Interesting, but after all these years, this event is of little consequence in our world of today...it's just good to know that there are historians out there who are dedicated enough to try to ferret out the real truth in some of the events that take place. I wonder what future historians will find with regard to some of the events that have taken place during our lifetimes....things like The Assassination of JFK, for example.

I'm sorta related to Amelia Earhart. I have an aunt (by marriage) that is Amelia's great niece. Her maiden name is Earhart. Pictures of Amelia and my aunt at the same ages look like they could be sisters.
She had this to say about the article announcing the show; "Oh bullshit! They're just still trying to make money off her body that the sharks ate years ago!"

I say; it's a long, and purposely directed stretch to go from that picture to "she died a Japanese prisoner".
