Hold the phones, tighten your belts. I actually agree with an/this ex government official. She nailed it when she noted many Americans don't understand insurance and/or things like co pays and deductibles. And that many Americans are used to getting insurance through their employer which took/takes them out of most of the insurance shopping process. I cannot agree more.

One of the biggest problems with health care/ health INSURANCE is that INSURANCE; a tool ment for catastrophic events has been used for routine maintenance. If nothing else employers and insurers should've called routine maintenance/office visits 'service', they should've been sold as a service plan just like on a refrigerator or car. Many corporations have become defacto government benefit programs feeding the someone else should pay for it syndrome. Wether it's corporate America or the government people grown to expect that someone else will pay for it and handle those pesky details.

Also with co pays and deductibles(as recently noted by an individual on this board) negate cheapER insurance, not care costs. I know people going yippee at the premium prices they are paying have yet to use them. Like most Americans they will wait until the crap hits the fan before they take the time to learn their plan.

Even though I agree with many of Sebelius's comments the lack of disclosure in the entire process from rough draft bills through implementation was inexcusable. Because along with government you had the medical and insurance industries trying to hide their costs.

Americans are financially illiterate.
I fully agree with you, most people today are living pay check to pay check. They look at their deductions and say "oh well".
Most still think "money grows on trees".

All these insurance companies, when you join you get 2-3 large manuals explaining their benefits that nobody can understand.
THATS exactly how they want you to think.
