Americans can now receive doses of vaccines that are different from the one they initially received.

I got my flu shot yesterday and asked the pharmacist if I could get my third shot in J&J, since my first two were Moderna and it's not in yet.

His answer: "Best to not mix the two brands, wait for the Moderna." I'm not in a high-risk group, so that's what I'm going to do.

I'm going to stick with Pfizer if I can. The different vaccines use different methods to induce your body into fighting the virus to build up your immunity, so it seems to me that sticking with one brand will be more effective. I don't feel like researching the different methods and posting it, but that data is out there. I'll look it up when I'm eligible for the booster shot.

I was pleased to see that.

My original vaccine was J&J but I would like to use the more effective Moderna vaccine for the booster. We’ll see!
Same with my husband, he will be taking the Moderna too for a booster, after receiving the J&J. I'm staying with Moderna for my booster.

Too late for me I already had my Pfizer booster. I think if there had been the option a few weeks ago I would have chosen Moderna for my booster tho.
I wish they make an updated version of the vaccine for the boosters that would be a better fit for newer variants.
