America's Best Hospitals - US News and World Report...

The hospital system we use made the List, which for us, is no surprise.
Since moving here 12 years ago, our care has been excellent.
Our Primary doctor and the specialists we see have been caring and responsive.
About all we could ask for in medical care.

Mine is
8. NYU Langone Hospitals, New York.

They treat me like a queen, and their rooms have incredible views of the East River on one side and Empire State Building on the other. Their TVs are 75 inches! Staff good too.

I was treated for Encephalitis at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I was super impressed with their organizational skills and their medical expertise. They didn't bug me for something every few hours, which was a change from some hospitals that want vitals, blood draws, go somewhere else in the hospital for tests, etc.

Some years ago I was working at IBM in Rochester Mn. and took the opportunity to have a tour of the Mayo clinic. The first thing I discovered was that it was a clinic, and that if people were hospitalised, they could choose which one based on religion. More surprising to a Brit like me, was that there were cashier desks.

It was remarkable that they had a little "railway" that could deliver anyone's medical records to any part of the clinic. This is a lot more than many British hospitals can do today!
One amusing point was when the lady guide explained that medical care could be very expensive and when she wanted treatment for haemorrhoids, she was quoted $2000. So, in her own words, "She told them where they could shove their haemorrhoids".

I am surprised that Methodist Hospital in San Antonio was not listed.

I am sure the list is not perfect. It is put together by journalists. They probably have general sources and can't really vet every single hospital out there.

But the ones on the list, especially towards the very top of the lists, should be sources of good medical care.
