I grew up in Southern United States under the guise of divine lies and altered truths for my own good because the Bible tells me so. Why does Christianity in the USA condemn sexual activity and preferences with guilt and condemnation. If the Bible were true why does it encourage procreation and punishment under the guidance of religious rules and regulations. Why does the Bible condemn homosexuality and not offer a substantial explanation why?

I grew up Southern Baptist preacher's kid and under the fear and wrath of god enforced by the church/dad. Under these abnormal circumstances no wonder I spent most of my life unraveling the poisonous influence they all had on me.

Not much in life is straightforward especially under the guise of organizations that pass themselves as the untraceable works of faith. What a person believes by faith can be falsely assumed as real and reinforcing their faith with prayer, worship and people of like mind encourage believers to continue believing and acting accordingly.

I think you've got it pretty well right Mr. Ed. I was brought up by strict Presbyterian parents, who believed everything was just "God's way" without ever stopping to question it.

Why does the Bible condemn homosexuality and not offer a substantial explanation why?

The bible is a book of contradictions.
We're all God's children, except when it comes to homosexuality.
God has a plan for everyone, except when it comes to people doing acts of pure evil.
The bible explains that heaven & earth were made by God, just doesn't include the billions of years timeline of various stages of earth's changes.

No explanation of how God became God or what images were used for the made in "our" image means.

I suppose there is comfort in having faith that a being billions of years old is going to welcome believers into

That provides hope for those that whatever reason their planned life was one of pure misery.

I judge religious leaders more on how they live than whatever they preach. We had one good one who was a Freedom Rider but whose sermons were a complete bore. More recently in the south the pastor regularly visited aids patients and commanded respect. The present minister at the same neighborhood church is a selfish grifter and I never go.

Doesn't faith and the Bible leave followers to interpretations?
I suppose there are contradictions that can be interpreted differently by people that truly believe in the good of having faith.
Many time when I read the bible, for one, I am not reading it like a traditional book.
Because of the complexity and nuances, I have to read a couple of pages, put it down, and go back reading those same pages multiple time to, what I believe truly understand what I'm reading. Then, take that interpretation and figure out how I put it into practice.
Will we all come away with the same version? Probably not....I think.....maybe...
