Ann Arbor Michigan OKs move to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms, plants

ANN ARBOR, MI — Magic mushrooms and other psychedelic plants and fungi are now effectively decriminalized in Ann Arbor, at least in terms of city police enforcement priority.

City Council voted unanimously Monday night, Sept. 21, in favor of a resolution declaring it’s the city’s lowest law enforcement priority to investigate and arrest anyone for planting, cultivating, purchasing, transporting, distributing, engaging in practices with or possessing entheogenic plants or plant compounds.

Thinking about crowds of masked stoners and ‘shroomheads roaming around during the pandemic. Every day will be Halloween.

I'd imagine that's what people experienced at the end of Prohibition although as an improvement, at least they no longer found their car radiators drained of the alcohol based anti-freeze in use at the time. Different substance, same problems.

Make it legal and instead of drinking ourselves to death we will now have other lawful choices.

The ancient Egyptians drank alcohol, and used opiates, as well as all kinds of plant products. That was thousands of years ago. People love the effect of certain drugs. They have no problem ingesting them into their bodies. If you want to stop this use of drugs, you would need a 24 hour guard to stand watch over each one of us. Youi may believe drug use is a horrific thing, but people are still going to do it. You can make all kinds of draconian laws, but you can't stop human nature. Yes, drugs do destroy lives, and kill. There is absolutely no denial of that. Since people ARE using drugs, what is gained by making them "illegal". Prohibition proved that attempting to stop drug use, only leads to a ruthless underground criminal empire, and is of little real deterrent to drug use. I'm not for condoning drug use, but I see little advantage of making them "illegal".
