Reasons to Cancel
1. Amazon Already Has Free Shipping on $25+
2. Prime Membership Makes You a Lazy Shopper
3. Amazon.com is a “Walmart-Wolf” in Sheep’s Clothing
4. Ridiculously Easy to Overspend
5. Prime Streaming is a Joke
During all of the stay at home advice during the pandemic I like everyone else kept my Prime simply because of the 'Free Shipping'. But looking over the other 4 reasons that Prime is a bad buy has convinced me that I've been led down the path of small return. At $139 per annum I realize what a bad investment it is. Just recently coupled with the fact that Amazon has some shipping logistics problems namely their association with USPS (especially with their touted 'free/2 day' shipping perk). Cutting the cable was easy but cutting Prime is daunting.
My decision to cancel Prime has happened before, but I feel that this year I will break free. I was looking into Walmart's, $35 free shipping approach & decided discretionary buying can beat that profit hog. Recently I made some needed & unneeded purchases through Prime. What a fiasco that has become. 'Running late' is their goto excuse. Out of 7 items ordered I still have 3 that are 'Running late' or maybe lost after almost 2 weeks of updates & promises. Being somewhat impatient the problems are getting on my nerves. So hitting the cancel button was a no-brainer coupled with changing my purchases with a little more patience & thought.
Prime is the only service you can't cancel when not being used. I've restarted HULU, Brit Box & NetFlix for their better content. All 3 can be paused or cancelled as needed.
ADDED: I only use the streaming & free shipping - nothing more I tried reading from my tablet (sorry not the same as the real thing).
