Another invite for vaccination.

I get the notion that my approaching birthday is a trigger to 'invite' me for yet another vaccination that I've never heard of. The latest one is for something that's around all the time , especially in autumn, and this vaccination may make it less severe if you were unfortunate to catch it. I wish that someone could come up with a single shot vaccine that combined all the separate ones. I haven't made up my mind whether to have it or not. I'll see.
 

You would not want them to mix them all into one shot because some can't be taken at the same time as others. I understand how you feel. Some of them are good to get. Others I question. I'm not sure I'm going to get anymore Covid vaccines. I haven't decided yet. I got my shingles and I got a second pneumonia one just in case because I was advised to do so after the hospital stay for it in November.
May I ask what the vaccine is for?
 
I'm 80, overweight, don't exercise, diabetic, with heart problems, high blood pressure, smoked for 40 years, can't even urinate on my own due to extensive nerve loss from back problems, so I ain't sweating the effects of any vaccine. Bring 'em on.

The vaccine is for RSV or 'Respiratory syncytial virus'. Apparently it is a very common cold / flu sort of illness that for most people is harmless and clears up on its own, but can be serious for babies or the elderly. Much is made of an apparent 62% fall in hospital admissions, however this does not state the number of admissions - I have see the number 500 mentioned, or the number of cases in total. I suppose that for anyone who would have serious problems, the vaccine may be a lifesaver, while for the majority, it simply lessens the symptoms and is never reported.

I wish there was better information about it.

RSV can kill you just so you know. I will probably get the RSV vaccine when I turn 60. I had that recently and I had a helluva time breathing. There's a reason they don't mix all of them together. Not all medications can be mixed together without adverse reactions or even deadly ones. I've seen a lot of RSV at work even now in the summer months there's a lot of respiratory stuff going on. I was told the RSV vaccination is just a one time thing. Might be worth thinking it over and discussing it with your doc.
