Another Odd Person at Work.

Did you ever deal with someone who seems to push back at everything you say and/or doesn't communicate with you?

I'm dealing with someone and it's like dealing with someone totally nonsensical. We had a woman who handled all outbound appointments and transportation. She is no longer there and we realize how much she did. This isn't a big problem, we can re-adjust. I just need to know who is responsible for what. I was told this one particular person now makes appointments. But according to her, she doesn't. But she never told me this. I talked to her about an appointment but she never told me she doesn't do so. Later she told me she made the appointment even though it wasn't her job.

My response was "you never told me you aren't making appointments, all you had to do was tell me that." I get some odd response back. I'm used to personality disorders, was raised by one. But this woman really rattles me. My brain can't comprehend how she acts and interacts. I don't know how to deal with her in the future. Luckily I don't deal with her a lot.

The number one thing to do is get a clear answer, in writing, from someone higher up in the hierarchy about who is making these appointments now that the other lady has left, explaining that she always did this. Send an email to one of the bosses. Say nothing about the new ladies earlier response or attitude.

Good advice, thank you.

I don't know how big your company is, but it sounds like a departmental meeting is in order to hash out these issues and try to get everyone on the same page.
The building isn't huge but it's busy. I work part time but I am going to ask when I work again.

Your company sounds as if there's nobody in charge of it. It's not the employees, who should be determining who does what-that's management's responsibility. Ask your supervisor to figure this out. Then you won't be butting heads with other employees.

That is what your supervisor is getting paid for.
Communicate with him or her about who is responsible now for handling all outbound appointments and transportation. Clarifying who does the job now doesn't have to be confrontational or accusatory.

Something like who is responsible now for handling all outbound appointments and transportation.

If your supervisor says the woman you are posting about you can say.
She did it but when I talked to her she said she isn't responsible for that. You can continue by saying I don't think it's fair to her. Keep talking asking him what he or she thinks would be the best way solve this issue.

If the supervisor names another employee then just sit back, do your job & let management sort out any problems that might surface.
