Another Pit Bull Attack

A banned dog owner whose two XL Bullies savagely mauled a woman walking her puppy has been jailed for 18 months.

Rachael Millard, 35, was on a walk with her two dogs in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, when the 'aggressive' Bullies charged out of an open door towards her.

She dived on her puppy to protect it when the two animals sank their teeth into her, leaving her with multiple puncture wounds.

Marcus Walsh, 41, was banned from owning dogs at the time when the two beasts carried out the attack, a court heard.

Walsh, of Penydarren, pleaded guilty to owning a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury and received an 18-month sentence.

It comes amid a string of high-publicity attacks on people and animals by XL Bullies, often leading to life-changing or fatal injuries. Eight people have died after being mauled by dogs so far this year.

Rishi Sunak has since announced plans to ban the XL Bully breed by the end of 2023.

My mother always liked dogs better than cats. A couple of years before I left home she developed an instant love for Chihuahuas and had several. Some were gentle, some were aggressive, all were noisy. All of them thought they were much bigger than they were and that's part of their charm. I held Rosie in my hands while my step-dad helped her deliver a stuck puppy and Rosie and my mother cried. There were no more pregnancies after that.

My family and I kept those little dogs when my mother traveled and sometimes it was hard with my cats. The dogs would bark at them and the cats would declare that they weren't taking any guff. Separate animal quarters were important because my big cat backed a cocky little dog into a corner and he was screaming for his life. He wasn't hurt, just more respectful for awhile. :)

In her later years Mom moved on to Samoyeds and Norwegian Elkhounds and my life got easier. Those were the good old days though. We were always so close in those days and the animals were part of it.

I will also say that I love the way Naturally's dog looks and I agree they are dogs for responsible people. They are really handsome dogs.
