Another small, good thing coming out of this mess

Last summer the kid up the street sent out a flyer about mowing lawns. We hired him to mow while we were on our cruise, and then again a couple more times. He helped with raking leaves, and is a great kiddo. His mom sent me a note recently offering to help with our grocery shopping or with anything we need. It was very sweet, I thought. Our daughter lives in town, so I assured her we were fine. But it's nice to know we have good neighbors. Then today I was walking the dogs after lunch, much later than usual. I saw at least half a dozen folks also out walking, and very few cars. Then a lady came by in a golf cart (very unusual to see in this neighborhood). Her little girl was in her lap helping to steer. She stopped across from me and said hi. Her daughter liked the dogs. And then this total stranger asked how I was doing and did I have everything I needed? So sweet. I assured her we were fine, if somewhat bored at times. It's little exchanges like that that I hold on to when I think the world has gone mad.

Our neighborhood has been organizing things for the kids to do that don't involve contact. We've been asked to put stuffed animals in our front windows and the kids are going on scavenger hunts to see who can find them all.

Also, chalk has been provided to leave messages and pictures on the sidewalks and driveways.

As long as they're in family groups only, it's a good way to get them some exercise and let them run off steam.
