Here's a shocker. In recorded history (around 3400 years), there have only been 268 years where there wasn't a war somewhere on Earth. So only 8% of time. Ouch.

There will always be wars. It might not be on your doorstep, but somewhere. Maybe not affecting you directly, but affecting someone. Religion, resources, pure evil, greed, power and control, etc. These are all reasons for wars. Humans aren't very good at peace. Even if you're not a war directly, it's likely your country is supporting a war elsewhere.

Oh there'll be a WWIII. Which is why we need leaders that are calm, sensible, and can read both the detail and the big picture. Hell, one day we may even elect an intellectual.

I was referring to modern day leaders. I don't see any intellectuals on the horizon. It's all bluster and soundbites.
