Anti Russian Sentiment in America Escalates After Invasion of Ukraine

There's no denying that the CCP has gained power through communism, off of the backs of hard working people who get paid nickels and dimes. The government benefits from our greed and has gained a foothold in many first world countries, buying up land and resources, wrecking poor countries' economies. Chinese government is heavily and rightfully criticized by many first and third world countries. So I'd say race and culture has nothing to do with it. Ask Taiwanese or Thai people (where I spent years learning the language) and they'll tell you the same thing.

Benevolence or malevolence? As of late the leadership of a large number of resource rich countries in Africa learned the hard way about that "Chinese checkers" crapshoot. I agree, race has no place when it comes to greed. The only race is the race to jump into a country, dig fast, dig deep and leave them high and dry before the check bounces. Works every time.

I know this thread has taken a completely different turn, and I'll apologize in advance for adding to that, but I was disheartened when I was in Cambodia and Thailand at how the Chinese have come in and invested money but are bringing in Chinese workers to man those revived businesses. So on the surface it looks they are helping those countries but they are really just helping themselves (no pun intended).

That's what they did in Tibet. They put in Chinese workers, etc until the population is mostly Chinese and the native country is now China; not just part of China. The original country gets swallowed up. There are barely Tibetans left in Tibet.

I think the hate is misdirected. Putin and his rich Mafia pals started the war. Why blame a poor restaurant owner? That is so wrong. That's what happened in WWI and WWII. The local Germans and Japanese were blamed even when they were born in North America and had nothing to do with the war. It is wrong to blame some rancher in Arizona of what they are doing in Washington. It is also wrong to blame Packerjohn (hey, that's me) for the nonsense that goes on in Ottawa. Remember, it's the politicians that start the wars, the the local cleaning lady, the local school teacher, your neighbour truck driver or the kid that delivers your daily paper have nothing to do with what those politicians do.

How sad. In WW2, my Grandfather was executed by the Nazi’s in Poland. But the sad truth is that many if not most of the Polish were every bit as anti-Semitic as the Germans and would show little empathy to the Jews being slaughtered. But still, some Poles risked their lives to protect Jews. It is so ignorant to generalize. Most of my best friends are of German descent.

My Jewish mother was born and raised (to adulthood) in Italy, so she was living there during during WWll. When I was a kid she told us lots of stories about how some Italians didn't like Jews, but they didn't like Mussolini even more, and how some Catholic churches protected Jewish families and even helped them escape the country. Her uncle's family was among them. Mom loved Catholics so much I think it's one of the reasons she married my dad, who was Catholic....but also really handsome.
