...if so you may be interested in the event that took place in my home town this last week end.......

Historic buildings have been lit up to highlight a town's hidden role in the sailing of the Mayflower.
Illuminate Harwich celebrated the town as the home of Christopher Jones, who sailed the Pilgrim Fathers to North America in 1620.
The captain's former house is to open next year as a tourist attraction during 400th anniversary celebrations.
The festival was one of a series being held at prominent Mayflower sites around the UK.

I have a friend from high school whom, I think, is originally from that area. She is very into Geneology and frequently posts things on her page that, I think, she means to post on her Geneology page. I`ll have to ask her and let her know about this.

Oh,that`s pretty close! I`ll let her know. I know she still has close relatives there but I went to school with here here in California,so she`s been here a long time!

We live about 40 miles from Plymouth and are descended (on my mother's side) from John Cooke, son of Frances and Hester. John was sent away from Plymouth as an adult due to religious differences. He settled in Dartmouth, which in it's day included portions that are now New Bedford and Fairhaven.

He (John) is buried in Fairhaven, less than 10 miles from our home. A good portion of our family has never left this area and remains here since that time.

I'm also descended from Frances and Hester Cooke (my 10th great grandparents) through their daughter Jane. That make us about 10th or 12th cousins, several times removed perhaps. Welcome to the family.

I was in Plymouth Devon England in October, I heard the
story of the Pilgrim Fathers, many years ago about before
they set sail finally for America, it is very interesting, but
not as interesting as starting a great nation, I bet.
