Any subjects that bored you years back that interest you now?

I hated school which for me was back in the 50's. The only subjects that interested me was science, penmanship,art, and reading if the book was on a subject I enjoyed. The rest of the time I zoned out just waiting for the bell to ring. I'm surprised I didn't get left back.

These days I'm finding that I love history, the civil war is a favorite, biography's on most anyone except political and sports figures. I watch the Discovery and History channel all the time and enjoy books on these subjects as well.

We also had sewing class which I dreaded and just recently I bought a sewing machine that I'm finding very enjoyable and relaxing.
I have a lot to catch up on after all these years but it keeps me occupied.

Does anyone have interests now that they found uninteresting back in the day?
 

I hated algebra, and still do as I was required to have two years of the subject and never thereafter had any use for it. I also hated poetry, but now rather like it. I simply wasn't receptive to it as a teenager when it was force-fed to me...
 
Geography. I detested geography at school, probably becayse the teacher was sooo boring, and uninterested... however since leaving school and travelling as much as I do and have done , I love Gerography now it's come to life for me...and even places I've never visited like the USA , Australia, and Africa..I still love to learn about the geography of those places..

I hope you get to visit the US. Lots to see and do (aside from the tourist traps).
 
Yup. I went to a Catholic High School, enrolled in the "college prep" courses. That meant 4 years of Latin. Back then I could care less about how Caesar smote the Helvetians . Even now, it doesn't float my boat. But I started taking up studying Latin, again. I got a home study course. I want to translate old Caesar again. I can't really give you a good reason why.
Lesson #1. Ego nauta sum. I am a sailor.

She's been to New York City twice, and visited all the usual big tourist places and stores .. to Fremont, San francisco Bay area, to stay with friends also twice.. and with her then O/H to Wyoming and Yellowstone park . She's also been to Mexico..and to Canada almost always Toronto ( I know it's not the USA).. :giggle: .the latter many times on business...

she's also been to Australia, South Africa, and UAE .. as well as many European countries... she now lives in Spain but she's not finished travelling yet.

I hated chemistry and still not interested. I've always liked history and geography and hated math but loved bookkeeping.

Not a school subject, but never liked cooking and trying recipes, and now it's one of my favorite hobbies since retiring. Also, the same for landscape gardening.

I love geography, too. I was astounded when I read that some adult taking a geography test replied that our state of Delaware was a country.

World travel is like a key in a lock, which opens many of life's finer treasures.

I'm constantly astounded at people's ignorance with regard not just the world but most often their v ery own countries.

I felt I was terrible at Geography at school I thought, but it transpires that even then, I was so much better than so many people are today.. I don't know if people have no interest or they had terrible teachers, but it's absolutely astonishing how little soooo many people (adults) know...
