That was the name my mother gave to the weekly newspapers and magazines detailing celebrity lives. She would stand in the checkout line skimming through the Enquirer and having a chuckle. She never bought them, too many real books at home plus we went to the library every week.

Somewhere along the way I picked up the habit too. Funny that I would find them of interest, I rarely watch TV. Sometimes I don't even know why the person is considered of note. But I'm still at Target every weekend binge reading all the break ups, break downs...everything with !!!!!!. It's almost embarrassing, like a secret porn habit.

I wouldn't buy them of course. It's cotton candy reading, OK magazine takes fifteen minutes cover to cover. But I just gotta see them...anyone else confess to a junk reading habit?

No, I'm not drawn to them. I'll look at the front page of the one at the checkout in a supermarket, but I never pick it up and browse through it.

My mother in law used to always get the Enquirer and the Star, when she was done with them she gave them to me to look through before they were thrown out. Somebody was always secretly getting pregnant, divorced, having cosmetic surgery or had a horrible hidden disease or condition. Never really cared if they did or didn't and always suspected that only half the stories were really true. By the way, did Ted Cruz really have all those affairs on his wife? "Inquiring minds want to know". :playful:

Heeheehee that's what's so deliciously stupid about them. I mean the plastic surgery exposes. Everyone with identical trout pouts and boob sizes that change by the season. I felt bad...something with Sir Elton, you know there's a lawsuit brewing at this moment. Oh and is that bottom real? In my day big butts were something shameful. Now they're doing ginourmous ones on purpose. Yes really better to line the bird cage.

Well somebody buys them, not me of course. They have to be doing a lot in sales to pay for the lawsuits the celebrities bring on.

No, they clutter up the dentist's waiting room and make such a mess. :playful:

But, nope. I never read them and actually find myself judging those celebs who appear in them. It seems to me now that they create celebs simply to fill the pages of these papers. They then set about living their lives to suit the demands of the readers.
