Anybody have a Roomba?

I'm in the market for a vacuum cleaner, have porcelain tile throughout the house, no rugs. Easy job? Yea, if I was 40 again...
The problem with cleaning this house is two fold:
#1. it gets dirty quick as the desert winds blow the dirt in through every nook and cranny.
#2. Motivation...no explanation needed I'm sure.

I know Roombas are not cheap, but are they worth it? I always wanted a robot as a youngster, maybe a Roomba would fill the bill. ;)

We have friends who have one and they love it.

Theirs auto-docks after it finishes vacuuming the floors, and I have never once seen debris on the carpet or ceramic tile, everything is always clean.

Have you done a search online for reviews, Nathan?

I find I always gain a lot of insight from reviews posted, as most are honest and to the point.

My doggy doesn't mind when it runs, but he scratches at the patio door to get outside ...:ROFLMAO:

The Roomba gets into many small and out of the way places that the regular upright can't get to ... but the upright has attachments for furniture and ceiling vents, etc., that the floor vac obviously can't take care of ....

Picks up dirt/dust well (on MAX setting), but I don't know about desert sand.

No vacuum cleaner will eliminate the need to mop (scrub) the floor clean.

I would vacuum the floor and then use a spray mop:

One of our granddaughters has a Roomba, and it seems to work well on hardwood or tile floors, but she said it wasn't too good on carpeting. They recently replaced the remaining carpets in their house, and it is now all wood/tile flooring, so this Robot is ok. She says they still have to keep a mop handy for the kitchen and eating areas, if any spills occur.

I agree about carpet, ok for surface clean but not deep clean. I got it for animal hair but every time you turn around, still have to bend down and pick it up (ain't real light) and empty the bin. I have rheumatoid arthritis and neither of those actions are easy for me. Mine stays hooked up but seldom gets used. I have wall-to-wall carpet.

We have two Roombas, i7. One upstairs and one downstairs. They are programmed by my wife to run by a time schedule. She also uses voice commands using Alexa. I don’t know much about how that works. I never heard her complain about its cleaning abilities.

We have a Samsung sweeper and the wife loves it. I think it’s about 3 years old now. It does our wood floors nicely and then the rugs in the bedrooms. Ours has a remote to help it if it needs it. I’m going to see if I can use it with my Alexa.

On my visit to the optometrist, one was parked under the chair I sat on. The people who worked there said it works great. I was hoping it would shine my shoes while I sat there but nope.
