Anybody watch the CMA awards last night?

I thought the CMA awards (50th anniversary) show was rather interesting last night. Although there seemed to be a few well-known absentees, they did have some old-timers and did a lot to recognize their contributions to country music. Thought the show was particularly well done this year. Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw seem to have found their "second wind" good for them!

I don't care for the newer country singers, too "commercial" and cross-over in style. My wife put CMA on, since I was asleep, but I woke up and did enjoy seeing the old-timers.

George Strait
Alan Jackson
Reba
Loretta Lynn
Crystal Gayle
Randy Travis

My apologies if I missed someone important.

Oh yea, Lorrie Morgan

anyone else?

They did a tribute to Randy in the beginning, did you see that? He has been through a lot of medical issues and I guess under the circumstances, he may be as good as he's going to get. He tried singing the end of that song, "amen" and it was a struggle, you could tell. You left out Dolly! She won an award "Willie Nelson" I think it was lifetime achievement award. I remember her on the old Porter Wagner Show. I believe her famous "I Will Always Love You" was written by her when she left the show. I listen to some of the modern country, but the nineties up until 2000 is probably my fav. It is definitely different than old country but I really loved how they paid tribute to their older honorees last night.

I didn't see Dolly Parton, I think I went to bed, only saw the first hour. I did like the Porter Wagner Show, I think it still plays on RFDTV, as well as the Marty Stewart Show, and other old time country good stuff.
