Anyone else here build their own PCs?

My first PC was an IBM when first introduced in 1982 (on employee discount), then another IBM (with a 10mb hard drive!) in 1985. Since then I've always built or upgraded my own. Currently my son and I are AMD fans, and also got into water cooling a few years ago. Are there any other DIY computer people here?

I still have a VHS/DVD player I don't even know how to hook up!
Great respect and "awe" for anyone who can actually build their own computer!

Many years ago I bought a Haynes book called, Build Your Own Computer. I was surprised at how easy it was. I spent more time deciding which components to buy than the time it took to build it. I've built several since then.

I went the other way, stripping down computers for the valuable parts inside, especially the gold pins, which I smelted down and sold for the gold content. JimB.

I personally built the desktop PC I'm currently using and have been using ever since 2017. It has an ASUS Z270-A main board, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM a 1 TB NVME SSD drive, slots for additional SATA SSD drives and an Intel I7 KABY Lake CPU. I upgraded the O.S. from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro even though MS says my CPU is not on the approved CPU list. I also use full Bitlocker encryption for everything on my PC. I'm an EE and computer hobbyist since the Stone Age.

I maintained and repaired military electronics, so building my own computer was not a big learning curve.
I built two or three for myself 2000-2010 and enjoyed doing so. Not since.
These days I use a fanless Intel Core i5 w/16GB RAM mini computer held in the palm of my hand and running Linux Mint.
Not a gamer or putting man on Mars, so this fits all my needs ... and fanless is VERY quiet ... silent in fact.
