It is hard to describe, but it is about an Evangelical empire with a patriarch (John Goodman) who has 3 children. They are all jockeying for his acceptance. They have a huge empire with all the trappings of the wealthy and rake in the money at their ostentatious church. Every one of them is damaged and curses like a sailor. It can be very raunchy but the Southern Baptist undertones are hilarious. I grew up in the Southern Baptist religion and this hits a comedy nerve with me.

Interesting. Just watched the trailer; husband told me to buy Season 1.

I don't know the others, but I like John Goodman.

Added: Thanks for the tip, @dseag2!

Eli Patterson, who plays they daughter Judy, is hysterical. It is very off-beat. Again, it can be very raunchy. This is Judy meeting her estranged husband at Outback. If you find this clip funny you will like it. If not, don't do it!

I re-discovered it on my last year's list of 'what to watch' and finished the first season a day or so ago. I really enjoyed it, and yes @dseag2 Judy is really a pip! I'll wait until Season 2 is finished before I start streaming it on HBOMax.

I've watched up to Episode 4 in Season 2 and have found it even more over-the-top and funny than Season 1. Judy is even more out of control. You're in for a treat! :ROFLMAO:
