Anyone ever gone to a police auction?

I've heard of police auction where all kinds of confiscated goods are up for bid. And according to the internet, there are online police auctions. I know when they auction off used cop cars, it's a big deal with all kinds of bidders.
Have you ever been to a police auction?

Nope...but like you I've heard of them, but there's never any near where I live...

I went to one with my mother when I was a kid, they had a parking lot full of stuff that for one reason or another couldn't be returned to the original owners they had a long row of bicycles which is what I wanted, but she didn't buy me one. It was interesting but I've never been to another one.

I had no idea that all counties (US) have a monthly sherif's sale. Items can be anything from mansions to pretzel makers. Some have online auctions, but only ".gov", not ".com" are truly real police auctions.
There's another one in my county in early June, so I'm going.
And it's a cash only transaction- no checks or credit cards.

My dad bought a couple of small trucks from a police auction in Sacramento back in the early 80s.

Do you remember the Chevy LUV? LUV stood for Light Utility Vehicle. He bought 2 white ones for his business, an auto paint & body supplies store that delivered. My brother and I were his delivery drivers during his first year in business.

Anyway, I didn't go to the auction with him, but he told me they had some awesome classic cars up for auction, too, so I went the following year. But I didn't buy anything. They mostly had classic muscle cars and this one beautiful old Willys Jeep. I had kids, so I was hoping for either a VW mini-van or an old Woody.

That Jeep was sure tempting, though!

I've heard of them but never been to one. I read about Army surplus sales, and always thought it would be neat to buy a military jeep. Saw them in movies and figured it would be fun to own one.

Army Surplus is where you'll find all kinds of top quality camping gear for quite a bit less than what you'll pay for poorer quality gear elsewhere. Plus handy gadgets you won't find elsewhere.
