I just planted our garden, and now, we're having dire forecasts of heavy rains. Easy way to protect new seed? Possibly put newspaper over the rows and something to hold the paper down?
I just planted some ground cover on a slope that keeps washing. It has been pouring all day. Just before it started I put a very cheap light plastic drop cloth from the dollar store on top and anchored it with bricks. I'll have to remove it as soon as the sun comes out so the plants don't cook but I've also done it with seed with good results. Actually made the seed germinate quicker because it kept the soil warmer in the cool evenings and nights.
Depending on how large the area is, maybe some old sheets will do the trick, if the rains haven't started yet, perhaps a gentle sprinkle spray with a hose to wet them down and secure them befor the cover? Good luck!
