Anyone Here an Independent or Traditional Author?

Hiya,

Since I had to leave some Social Media sites (Twitter, Instagram) it's wee bit difficult to find other authors to discuss books, subjects, and more. I haven't used my blogger in ages. I'm currently using Skype and my YouTube channel for my trailer videos.

I've a full four eBooks series ready for readers of Vampires, Witchcraft and more behind the scenes Supernaturals. Launch on hold since hubby died.

I've a WIP that's got the synopsis ready. This future series is about Earth Angels.

So please, if you're a writer, indie or traditional author, can you reply? I'm trying to reach out and get back into finding potential future readers.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Have you checked out Ello? It's a global 'Creators Network' based in the UK. For all kinds of artists, creators. There are writers groups and you can advertise (and i think they have a set up now where you can actual sell your work thru them) and give 'tastes' of your work. i liked it better when it was smaller and more intimate--but it might work as a venue for you to reach potential readers and fellow authors.

Yes, I've written and had published three books so far, published by traditional publishers here in the U.S.
I have, in the works, two more books, at least.
My books are spiritual, about Angels, God, Heaven, etc. and another new book featuring angel art and illustrations
with messages from the heavens, for which I'm trying to find a publisher.
My "now" avatar is one of my Angel paintings.

Thanks @feywon I didn't know about that site. Cheers, I'll give it a try in the New Year 👍👍👍

Amazing @Gaer ! My WIP is about two Angels in Elysium who decided to come to Earth to live their love. If you want I can give you the link to the Elysium Series video trailer?

Nice to meet you dear!

I am self-published since it is almost impossible to find an agent or publisher. Since becoming a widow I have lost all inspiration but would love to write again.
You'll write again @smilingmore I know... After a message received while I slept, I jotted down a new chapter. This, about a month ago, and seriously I didn't believe I'd get anymore from the writing muses after hubby died. So, I was extremely surprised. Mind you said chapter is raw, but I'll attack it later on.

I'm sorry for your loss, I've a good idea how you feel. Honestly, there was a time I'd believed I'd never get to grow up with all the sadness I'd suffered as a child with 4 Funerals in a very short period of time.

Regardless, here I am a senior and widow (April 2022) and minus my youngest child, our son in 2017, down to me, daughter and kitten. People say it gets better... Yes, it does! The ones we love stay in our hearts forever and living with the memories while going forward is the best way to honour those who've left us too soon. Nice to meet you dear! Good writings to come!

Hi @Supernatural, welcome to SF! I also am an author, but unfortunately, I do not read or write in your genre! Good luck!
No worries @palides2021 we contribute our own flavour of words. Variety is the spice of life. I'm eclectic, I blend many styles within my writings but most sites restrict to just 3-4 categories. There's hints of Sci-Fi and even time travel LOL! It'd be boring to be stuck with just one kind of stories at the bookshop, aye right, hey?

Nice to meet you dear!

I've had a few test readers of my partial Elysium Series. The results have been favourable and encouraging, received 5 stars.

However, many believed that the stories aren't fictional but feel as "Based in a True Story" only the names and locations have been changed to protect the characters within.

Wow! I'm happy... I'll be completing it in the next year or so!

Regarding "The Wanderlust Collection" is grabbing attention. I just need to explain to people how they can get the eBooks separately or as a whole.

I've links on my YouTube channel but they don't seem to be available due to the changes last year or 2021 if I remember. I'll need to fix those but meanwhile here's a link that works:
https://www.buymeacoffee.com/CDBurnside.

Thanks to whomever is interested in reading my Paranormal series. Cheers!

PS : click the link, make your choice, once I get the notification of order via valid email, I upload your choice. Simple!

Thank you for those encouraging words. I needed that.

Caitlin,

I've just joined this excellent forum (as of 2/16/23) and, yes, I am an independent author. My preferred genres are Sci-Fi, Horror, Thriller, and Action/adventure; basically speculative fiction. I have published via Amazon Kindle (e-book and large format paperback) four novels since 2019. I used my real name (David Mayo) should you wish to look them up on Amazon. I envy you to have produced four book series. My stories lean toward the supernatural and all so far are standalone novels.

Briefly, a story about the development of the first zero-point energy machine utilizing a parallel universe's star matter (and pissing off several alien races); an ancient Sumerian demon accidentally released by the Vatican; an unfortunate epileptic who is offered an amazing cure that backfires horribly; and a love story with a parasitic twist. I know they all sound like twilight zone tales, but there is quite a bit of substance and (I hope) nuance in each novel. Most of my later career before retirement was as a technical writer, so I supposed that helped.

Of course, being a published author is not the same as being a successful author. To date, other than a handful of positive reviews, I have only sold a modest number of books. Unfortunately, publishing a novel is only 50% that is needed to actually sell a bunch of books. As you probably know, that all comes down to advertising and promoting your stuff. I am retired on a limited income and promoting is expensive.

Still, I have two more works-in-progress (an adventure horror and a YA novel about telepathic dogs) I am writing on. I am about 20,000 words into each, shooting for at least 60,0000 final word counts. I honestly believe that my writing is improving greatly with each book. I will keep plugging along. I hope you do as well. I will look up your books . Are they available on Kindle?

A fellow Wordsmith,

Welcome David, to the forum from Scotland on the West Coast. Glad to meet another author. My series "The Wanderlust Collection" which is available (currently since I've lost my husband on the day I was creating my e-commerce website, so on hold until May this year) via my website on https://www.buymeacoffee.com/CDBurnside They're available separately, Birthright, Foresight, Charisma and Seduction. Also, as the collection where all four novels are included.

I've tried Amazon with another series which was bought one day, reimbursed the next and well... Got spread around on illegal free ebooks websites. I've lost loads that year. I had to delete it completely. I too am on limited income. However, I've found quite a few good website to advertise for free. I can give you links about them. Nice to meet you, I'm Dany to my friends.

I have done some writing, but only technical things.

In my field of engineering writing skill is not as important as the technical content. So on my best days my writing is competent, never great. Doubt it would be of much interest to anyone here, isn't really to me anymore.

I do appreciate and envy those who can write well, we have a number such people here.

@Alligatorob you're in the engineering field? What a coincidence... Hubby was a Senior Ship Draughtsman and he had loads of technical reports to write pertaining to the ships he drew. After he met me and after we got married, I've helped him out with the wording, the grammar and all. He was having troubles with putting the words down.

So, he would explain what the purpose was and I'd write it down. I remember reading the ones from my Father about car parts. At the end of the day, my knowledge would have helped getting me in those professions BUT I was a girl and that's an automatic refusal. Hence, my writings are from the imaginative world 🤣🤣🤣 Cheers!

Sounds like most engineers I have known. Unfortunately we don't get much language skills in school. I think that is a real mistake, your work is only useful to people if they can understand it...

A good woman! We all needed one of you.

Due to all the upheavals I've been through, haven't done much and my reaching out have been on the "not interested" replies. Obviously, I'm not reaching the readers my stories require. Gosh I know how difficult it is today 🤣🤣🤣.

However, I've repackaged the first series. I've done new covers and retitled anew after getting favourable responses from experts. I know I'd expected to get the summer jump. Nevertheless, life's ups and downs hit again and I'm too much in a stressed out state, so I'm giving myself extra time to gather my strength and healing before jumping again in self publishing.

It'll happen when I'm good and ready. Thankfully, having registered with a GP, my health will improve and I'll get back into that beautiful pond, the independent authorship.

I'm off to work on new eBook video trailers making them slightly longer with actual speech to iterate the synopsis, new music, moving pics (lol) and more.

Also thanks to a good search on YouTube, I've been able to find a way to update one of my emails. Once I get time to do this, IE in a good frame of mind, then I'll get the ball rolling.

The Eternal Love Series contains four books: Birthright, Foresight, Charisma and Seduction. So, if you don't like Romance, historical Paranormal about vampires and witches from a third parallel dimension found between Venus and Mars, then give this a by.

If you do... well thank you!
