Anyone remember this old saying?

As a kid I used to hear old farmers saying when you get the first snow, that's how many snows you will tet that winter.

So my first snow was this morning 11-14-21 So that means 14 more snows???

Yes, I remember hearing that old saying but it was the date of the first tracking snow, not just a dusting of snow.
