The boot was made by the firm of Hillaby's in Pontefract, West Yorkshire, England.
Chaplin was hospitalised after eating the boot.
Insulin shock.
Liquorice is made from extracts from the root of the Liquorice Plant

I've watched this movie already as a child but didn't know that Charlie Chaplin got an insulin shock and needed to be hospitalized. That's a very interesting detail.

I remember watching TV with my parents it when I was very young. As a child, I thought the part where Charlie Chaplin danced with forks stuck in bread rolls was hilarious. 50:27 into the video posted by kburra.
