Anyone watching The First Lady on Showtime?

I only started watching it today, but I found it interesting.

It outlines the lives of Eleanor Roosevelt (Jillian Anderson), Betty Ford (Michelle Pfeifer) and Michelle Obama (Viola Davis). All three actresses are fantastic and it includes snippets of old video footage of events during their times as First Ladies. I knew virtually nothing about Eleanor Roosevelt and barely anything about Betty Ford (except for her addiction) so it is kind of a nice history lesson. The Obama segments make me somewhat nostalgic.

I also find it a nice escape from the news of today.

I subscribed to Showtime just so I could watch The First Lady. Totally forgot about it. Thank you for the reminder. Are those the only three they plan to show or will there be more?

Happy to remind you! Not sure whether there will be more but from what I've seen of it, the first season should be great. Enjoy!

Not watching it, though it looked good. I have watched a bunch of documentaries on most of the First Ladies. I think that would go back to include everyone up to the wife of President Bush (Jr).

Quite a collection of very extraordinary women! Of course, enormously impressed by the amazing Abigail Adams. To my mind, she might be the most impressive of the bunch. And then, of course, the great Eleanor Roosevelt. I also came to understand that Lincoln's wife was really quite a powerful women. Enormous talents and really maybe much more a political partner than is generally understood???

And, of course, Jackie Kennedy. As a guy, I have to say, I don't know that there really has been a more beautiful woman, ever...than Jackie Kennedy. For me, it is either her or Audrey Hepburn...

About 10 or 15 years ago, my wife and I went to a local museum. Just for a day out. We really did not check the list of exhibits before we went. But when we got there, they had an exhibit of the inaugural dresses of the First Ladies. I am not a fashion guy, but they were very interesting. Being dumb, I had not really quite grasped how small folks were back in 1800.
