Can you say where you are? I haven't heard of mask laws being remandated in the U.S. thus far.I bought some pantry foods that had a long shelf life and still have some although they're slowly getting used up. Many of the items are now 50-80% higher in price than they were when I bought them, so it turned out to be a good move.
I also have a box of masks like @jujube does... and thought (hoped!) we'd never have to touch them again, but my area has jumped 20% in Eris variant cases in two weeks so it's getting real again for some parts of the country... we've already been told at one establishment that we couldn't get in without a mask.![]()
It's not a law at that establishment, @chic ... it's a locally and privately owned business that made the decision on their own.Can you say where you are? I haven't heard of mask laws being remandated in the U.S. thus far.
But then, they cannot enforce it by law? So, it's not like a mandate? I've been seeing a lot about the return of lockdowns and masks coming next month and it is possible if the majority comply with it. So I wondered. It's not a law at that establishment, @chic ... it's a locally and privately own business that made the decision on their own.
That's heartbreaking.Loneliness... The isolation was bad. We'd just moved into our new home and hubby worked hard to complete our decorating. He went out with daughter three times a week. The remaining four days, he painted and decorated.
Things were looking up round January 2022. He passed away April 2022. We made Todo lists, I've still have some and working them off to keep busy.
I kept my mind going by writing a brand new series of 4-novels. Completed it in April 2022 and was going to launch it for 1st May. I now have a new list which has been put aside due to circumstances. Wrote another new series but now I've got multiple notes everywhere.
Having lost him, Twitter and Instagram, it's been too much and considering that I've now lost webstore, I feel I'll have to find a new place to offer my eBooks. Please, don't recommend Amazon Kindle, that's how I lost my very first series. Thanks!
Loneliness, still creeps in from time to time, but a new outlook is in the horizon. I'm reorganising my life day-to-day. I've accomplished a lot, I'm in a good routine with daughter and kitty kat.
I've got good friends here on this forum, so wee bit hopeful. Yes, I do bank a lot of items but I never really horded anything in particular. Granted, it was difficult to find loo rolls but hubby at the time, always found enough...

@Supernatural, could you explain more about this? I ask because we may want to publish there. Please, don't recommend Amazon Kindle, that's how I lost my very first series.
I was going to ask the same question since I am a voracious reader and would have loved to sample @Supernatural's work, and wondered how it came about that she "lost" a series?@Supernatural, could you explain more about this? I ask because we may want to publish there.
The rest of the country is with you, Jules. May you get a good soaking soon. I just read that the fires have now consumed an area the size of Ireland! Horrible!Lemonade from lemons. Right now I’m thankful to still have the masks. Because of wildfire smoke, it’s extremely dangerous to be out for even a short period of time.
@Devi & @Old Salt . Here's the link with Amazon. They'll sell your eBook, no problems. However, they sadly reimburse if someone who purchased it, wants a return. Major downfall...@Supernatural, could you explain more about this? I ask because we may want to publish there.
What about Twitter?@Devi & @Old Salt . Here's the link with Amazon. They'll sell your eBook, no problems. However, they sadly reimburse if someone who purchased it, wants a return. Major downfall...
So, my series was bought at 08:00 and reimbursement took place at 08:30 same day. I was nonplussed. Waited a fortnight and BLAM! Found it on no less than 8 illegal free eBook sites.
I had to report them, that was nasty as I had to write to each individual sites. Amazon was no help. I had to make a choice and I decided to unpublish, close account at Amazon and deleted my series altogether. Never looked back.
I've an easier system just now, granted it's not a sales magnet BUT I know where my eBook goes. I've my payment site, I give it to people I know who make a request. Once I get payment, I send the copy requested or whole series, various prices, through reader's email. I keep a record of these.
I'm of the opinion that if you buy any reading material and you don't like it, physical just give it to charity or digital, just delete permanently. Simple solution!
However, there's nasty people who thinks it's funny to send a struggling indie author an email saying: "LOL, that's you having lost a £1,000 in revenu..." yes, I received those emails. Very sad... I've just made £10.00 in the sales of two copies, this year, so far.
Hoping this explains to your satisfaction. I can give link to site via private message only. Cheers!
Keep in mind in the US most businesses can still have conditions for providing service: "No Shirt, No Shoes=No Service" for example. But then, they cannot enforce it by law? So, it's not like a mandate? I've been seeing a lot about the return of lockdowns and masks coming next month and it is possible if the majority comply with it. So I wondered.
