Apparently Medicare pays 3 times more for a patient on a ventilator. A covid patient will be paid $13,000 compared to patient put on a ventilator at $39,000.

This might explain the emphasis on ventilators and reports that ventilators are being over used/damaging patient lungs.

Are hospitals and doctors treating patients or reacting to the higher financial incentive of a ventilator patient?

I think the whole article is utter claptrap. Doctors and nurses are risking their lives every time they come anywhere near a coronavirus patient, some even dying of it themselves, and now some people think they are milking the system for using more complex and expensive ways to try to save patients' lives?

Wonder if that senator is getting paid more than he deserves?

The first thing that I look at in these "dramatic" articles is the political affiliation of the "speaker' followed by the political leaning of the news outlet posting the article.

That, to me, in these horrible times (both healthwise and politically) usually fits it into a slot that matches up with a whole series of left or right leaning statements and has more to do with the political view than the reality.

Day after day, in lock step, you can see the message that one or the other of the two groups wants to become the new reality. Sickening, IMHO.
