Appealed Parking Ticket Turns Into $650,000 Award-Los Angeles

Good for him, the City deserves to get spanked for letting a private for-profit company handle these matters.

Up until a couple years ago, many municipalities were making big bucks with the installation of cameras at traffic intersections.

Of course, the traffic signals were adjusted so as to "encourage" drivers to run the yellow-turning-red light, as typically only 3 or 4 cars can get through the intersection, before the light changes.

An out-for-state private company was leasing and overseeing this program. Nice moneymaker for the city, a $400 ticket gets automatically mailed to the driver.

If I was ever to sue someone or some company, I hope it's in California or New York. With those two states being the most liberal in the country, the awards are probably also the largest in the country.
